Wine route in La Mata Natural Park

La Mata Natural Park covers an area larger than the municipality to which it belongs, and within this vast territory there is a small area where vineyards unique in the world continue to be cultivated.

Our guides will tell you all about these limited-production wines, their history, their importance in Spain, and, of course, you will get to taste them along with local and artisanal products.

What will we do during the activity?

We will take a guided tour: We will visit the vineyards in the area. We will make a brief stop to see the El Canal de Acequión. The tour will cover approximately 800 m.

We will go bird watching: The Natural Park is wonderfully beautiful and not to be missed, so we will make a brief stop to see resident and migratory species such as flamingos.

We will taste wines: We will taste three wines from Alicante, one of which will come from the vineyards of the Natural Park we visited earlier. Limited production and artisanal production.

Pairing: We will learn how to correctly pair the wines we have tasted with artisanal and local products such as: – 2 local tapas. – 2 extra virgin olive oils from the area. – 2 artisanal homemade cheeses.

Culinary demonstration with gourmet tasting at the Pink Lake

The most authentic route in Torrevieja Since the time of the Phoenicians, fish and salt have always been the main characters of the town of Torrevieja. The Romans discovered how to preserve fish in salt and considered it a delicacy worthy of the emperor himself, which is why they transported it on their ships to the Roman Empire. To this day, that technique is still used, and that’s what this route is about: a Gastro Cultural route that will transport us to Roman times in an idyllic setting, at the best time of the day, sunset.

What will we do during the activity?

First, we will access the Salt Industry to learn not only about the process of salt extraction from ancient times to the present day but also about the culinary uses of the salt produced in Torrevieja.

After the introduction and explanation by the guide, we will ascend the salt mountain where a master craftsman will explain the salting process, its traditional technique, and current processing.

After that, we will move on to the tasting of the salted blue fish from Torrevieja, along with other local products such as extra virgin olive oil in its arbequina variety and the exclusive white wine from Alicante.

Cultural tour in Torrevieja

Torrevieja has always been known as a clear example of “sun and beach tourism.” However, there is a lot of history to tell about this seaside town: “Iberians, Romans, pirates, voyages to the New World, and a blood hospital” are some of the things you will discover about this beautiful “town” that is not just about sun and beach.

What will we do during the activity?

We will discover the old spas of the municipality, as well as very representative buildings of the city such as the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja and the Casino. Additionally, we will visit the floating museums like the patrol boat Albatros III and the first Spanish navy submarine converted into a museum.

Tours Costa Blanca has the opportunity to exclusively offer private tastings on a salt mountain, and this summer 2025, we are bringing a unique and fun experience where we will culminate by watching the best sunset in the area.

What will we do during the activity?

We will enter the private grounds of La Laguna Rosa: We will observe from inside the pink lagoon of Torrevieja, which is a unique place in Spain of extraordinary beauty. That is why it has become the most visited place in the municipality.

As it is an area belonging to the Torrevieja Natural Park and has a spectacular population of birds, observing them will be one of the most wonderful moments of this experience.

Beginning of the blind tasting: We will taste 4 wines from the area. All of them from Alicante, traditionally made and organic. All the bottles will be covered so that we can focus on the wine. Following the Sommelier’s instructions, we will gradually learn to identify each one of them. In the end, we will discover who the “best wine taster” is.

Tasting of local products and premium oils: Once the experience is over, we will enjoy the best moment at the lagoon, the sunset over the rosy waters. We will take the opportunity to enjoy a tasting of local products along with a tasting of premium extra virgin olive oils.

Fishing workshop for children

We have designed a shorter fishing experience, especially for parents with children (up to 10 years old) who want to come and try, learn, or simply enjoy the experience.

What will we do during the activity?

We will go on an 11-meter-long catamaran with a skipper who will teach us how to fish. And since summer has already arrived, you can, of course, take a dip in the open sea. Important: Each child must be accompanied by an adult who will be responsible for them. This fishing experience is exclusively for families with children under 10 years old.
