Team Canada Men Over 50 is proof that you’re never too old—and it’s never too late—to keep playing the game you love. Our group of players brings together decades of soccer experience, stories from around the world, and a shared enthusiasm for walking soccer that’s as contagious as it is inspiring.
From kicking rolled-up newspapers in Bangladesh and playing matches at Wembley, to coaching youth teams in Toronto and co-founding clubs in Ontario, our players have done it all. Some, like Andrew Hilton and Kai Lamertz, have laced up in cities across the globe. Others, like Kerrin Hands and Darko Sporcic, have helped grow the game right here at home. The Toronto Loons, Toronto’s first and only walking soccer club, is well represented, with players like Dave Clarke, Simon Pope, and Mehmet Yagci rediscovering their love for the game—minus the sprints and slide tackles of course.
Our squad’s roots span the globe, with players originally from England, Germany, Croatia, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, and Türkiye—who are all now proud Canadians. Whether we were born here or drawn here, we’ve brought a deep passion for the game and a strong sense of community that shines on and off the pitch.
Off the field, our lads are just as impressive: artists, engineers, designers, professors, brewers, and tech pros all united by our passion for the pitch. Whether we’re coaching kids, swapping stories, or perfecting their one-touch passing, we’ve found new energy and community through walking soccer.
Now, our spirited and tight-knit team is heading to Spain to represent Canada at the 2025 World Nations Cup. With boots polished (well, maybe), spirits high, and a few ice packs just in case, we’re ready to show the world what our seasoned players can still do—with a little finesse, a lot of heart, and just the right walking pace.
