King’s College Murcia Summer Camp Scores Big with Walking Football Session

ROLDÁN, MURCIA — A highlight of last year’s King’s College Murcia summer camp programme brought smiles, teamwork and sporty fun to participating students with a special two-hour walking football session that captivated both boys and girls.

The session, led by coaches Robbie Burns, Mark Kavanagh and Tyler — Robbie’s eldest son, took place on the school grounds during one of the school’s popular summer camps, which are designed to combine sports, arts, sciences and English-language activities in a safe and engaging environment.

Walking football — a slower, inclusive version of traditional football that replaces running with walking — proved to be a perfect match for campers of varying ages and abilities. Participants enjoyed a full two hours of play, enthusiastically taking part in drills and match-style games that encouraged fair play, strategy, and cooperation. Both boys and girls “loved every moment of it,” according to camp organisers.

“We wanted to give the children an opportunity to enjoy sport together in a fun, relaxed way, and walking football delivered that and more,” said one of the session’s coaches.

For many campers, the walking football session was not just about sport — it was an opportunity to make new friends, build confidence, and be active outdoors during the long summer days. With enthusiastic participation from both boys and girls, the activity underscored the inclusive, community-centred ethos of the King’s College summer experience.

Organisers say they hope to bring back even more sporting highlights like this one in the forthcoming summer camp season, giving children plenty of reasons to stay active and engaged while having fun.
