This sport for over 60s in the Community of Madrid which is booming and especially in the Majadahonda Lightning team, which is the largest of all with 35 players with an average of 69 years.
The walking football, or โwalking football โ, is a modality of the considered king of sport, which emerged in 2011 in the United Kingdom, with the aim that older people could play soccer. There are different categories, with players over 50, 60, 65, 70 and 75 years old, respectively.
The main difference from conventional football is that if a player runs, the rival team is awarded a free kick. Sliding tickets are also prohibited or the ball is raised more than two meters on the field of play.
The rules are similar to traditional soccer, but with notable differences such as the prohibition of running, the absence of physical contact, reduced goal sizes, and restrictions on hitting the ball with the head above 183 centimeters.
